Science of Diving

This programme provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programmes, as well as some Extended Range programmes. You will earn the SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification after completing this programme.

Dive Guide

This programme provides the skills and experience required to safely lead groups of certified divers and is the first step towards an exciting career as an SSI Professional, without requiring completion of an instructor programme. Professional Dive Guides can work for SSI Training Centres, guiding dives in a variety of environments and conditions. The SSI Dive Guide certification is awarded after completing this programme.

Professional Dive Guides can work for SSI Training Centres, guiding dives in a variety of environments and conditions. This course also has the speciality Science of Diving included.
On completion of the Dive Guide and the Science of Diving Speciality, a recognition qualification of Divemaster can be obtained.

Instructor Crossover

The intent of the SSI Dive Professional Crossover programme is to provide an orientation to SSI philosophies and procedures for dive professionals from other recognised scuba training agencies. It provides the knowledge and skills needed to conduct SSI programmes, equivalent to their existing qualifications in a safe and enjoyable manner. Upon completion as an SSI Dive Professional candidates will be awarded the appropriate qualification commensurate to their previous experience.

- Certification prerequisites: Must hold an equivalent rating from a recognised agency for the programme being crossed over. Must meet the minimum certification requirements for the programme being crossed over.

Assistant Instructor

This programme provides the skills, concepts and teaching experience required to become a successful SSI Instructor. The course entails: SSI Teaching System and philosophy, how to assist Instructors in training and how to independently teach a variety of SSI training programmes. Candidates who complete this programme can earn the SSI Assistant Instructor rating or work all the way through to the SSI Open Water Instructor, after having successfully passed the Instructor Evaluation in addition.
